Se învecinează cu orașul Bocșa și localitatea Dognecea. Zona este foarte frumoasă și foarte căutată de către amatorii de drumeții.

The Ocna de Fier mine is a large open pit mine in the western of Romania in Caraș-Severin County, 25 km west of Reșița and 511 km north-west of the capital, Bucharest. Ocna de Fier represents the largest iron ore reserves in Romania having estimated reserves of 200 million tonnes of ore grading 25% iron metal.

Trace mineral assemblages in the bornite- and chalcopyrite-rich Cu-Fe zone of the Ocna de Fier-Dognecea skarn deposits, Banat, SW Romania provide additional constraints on the genesis of this classic zoned skarn system. Observed assemblages substantiate a model, in which the Cu-Fe zone forms the proximal fluid-plume root of the system.
